Main Factors affecting brown planthopper (BPH) outbreaks in the Central region from past up to now are cultivations of susceptible rice varieties and misused insecticide application. The aim of this research was to prove the misused of insecticide application in the hot spot area causing BPH severe outbreak. One hundred to one hundred fifty farmers from six provinces: Nakhon Nayok, Suphan Buri, Ang Thong, Chai Nat, Phitsanulok and Nonthaburi were interviewed during August to November 2010. The result found 56.5 to 100 percent of farmer sprayed insecticide for two to six times/seasons.
